As animal lovers, we value each pet's life. This is why we, along with the Humane Society of the United States and numerous other animal shelters and rescue groups urge pet owners to have their dogs, cats, or other pets spayed or neutered. Doing so can help save lives, and this is why our veterinary hospital provides important spay and neuter services for dogs, cats, and other pets. There are millions of homeless animals in the United States, many of whom are euthanized when homes for them cannot be found. By spaying and neutering your pets, you can do your part to stop this tragic cycle. To learn more about our spay and neuter services, contact us today.

Spaying refers to the removal of a female animal's reproductive organ, while neutering refers to a similar procedure performed for male animals. Spaying or neutering is not thought to affect a pet's personality, which is more influenced by genetics than sex hormones. And without a concept of sexual identity, spayed and neutered pets do not experience any kind of inner crisis as a result of the physical changes brought about by the procedure. Spayed and neutered pets live happy and healthy lives, and their owner's have the peace of mind that comes with knowing their pet's offspring will not end up homeless or in a shelter.
Additionally, spaying and neutering can help to prevent certain diseases, such as pyometra (a disease of the uterus most common in female dogs) and prostate disease, among others.

Spaying and neutering are the only 100 percent effective methods of birth control in animals. The Humane Society estimates that there are between six and eight million homeless animals in the United States. For each of these pet owners who visit us, we provide thorough aftercare information to help pets enjoy the healthiest possible recovery from the procedure.
