Dr. Kimberly Guzmán (she/her/hers) is an Ecuadorian-American Veterinarian that grew up in Belleville, NJ. She graduated with her Bachelors degree from Rutgers University.

Prior to veterinary school, she worked as a medical assistant at a pediatrician’s office and as a veterinary technician at West Orange Animal Hospital. She has also worked in various research labs including studying insects, horses, immunology, and field work with lizards and birds from the Galápagos Islands. She has helped publish various research papers in these labs.

She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU), for which she was the Vice President of her class. During her time in veterinary school, she helped mentor pre-veterinary students and helped start Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Club to help increase diversity in the veterinary profession. She also formed part of the Latinx Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA) in which she was able to learn about other Latinx veterinary professionals and helped find community.

Before joining the team, Dr. Guzmán completed a rotating internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in small animal medicine and surgery.

Her interests include working with small companion animals (dogs and cats) and working with exotic companion animals (small mammals, birds, reptiles). She chose the veterinary medicine profession because she loves to alleviate pets from pain and help clients take care of their best friends. 

Dr. Guzmán’s professional memberships include: the AVMA, NJVMA, LVMA, AAV, ARAV, and AEMV. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, karaoke, traveling, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
